Peakto will create a number of files on your Mac when installed and running. Here is a comprehensive list of those files and the requirements when it comes to backup
The catalog(s)
The catalog (also known as the Peakto root folder) is where Peakto stores the data, metadata, thumbnails, previews of everything that shows up in the app.
It is a folder (by default it is called Peakto inside your Pictures folder) containing a hiearchy of subfolders and various database files.

The location of this folder can be changed in the Settings and you can also create several such catalogs.
Only you know where this/these catalog(s) are stored and you need to back them up.
The catalog contains thumbnails and previews that can in theory be reconstructed. The critical files in the catalog are all the database files (except the PeaktoCache database that can also be reconstructed). These database files are packaged as an archive when you use the Peakto Backup feature. The thumbnails are not backed up in this process as they can be recomputed.
The support files
Peakto also stores information, as many macOS apps, in 2 locations in your user library
- the Application Support folder: ~/Library/Containers/io.cyme.Peakto/Data/Library/Application Support
- the Preferences folder: ~/Library/Containers/io.cyme.Peakto/Data/Library/Preferences
The application support folder is where we download all the models and support files that Peakto requires. This happens the first time you launch the app. The preferences folder is where macOS stores all the app's preferences that you might change when using the Settings etc;..
You don't need to backup these files.
Peakto will happily download the missing ressources if there are any.
If you lose your preferences, the main impact is that Peakto will no longer know where your catalog is stored. But this is an easy fix as you can simply point to the location again and the preference will be restored.
The licence key
Your licence key is stored in the macOS keychain.
