Understanding 'SAFE MODE'
The Avalanche Preferences panel, under the "Advanced" tab gives you access to the SAFE MODE setting.
What is it ?
SAFE Mode enabled in Preferences When Avalanche processes an input library, it can decide to access all master files to search for some metadata. This can cause large disk access rates and in some situations, we found that it could make the migration more difficult to achieve, or even cause it to fail. Such situations were detected when the disks on which the masters were stored were damaged, slow, or on a network. The extra disk access was simply not worth the effort and we decided to give the option to avoid it.
So, we introduced this feature called SAFE MODE to minimize those disk accesses and turn those rare problematic situations into success.
