I use Peakto to manage catalogs, and then I switch to Photolab once images are updated with stars, flags, tags and colors.
I was able to use XMP files with Photolab, but it has several drawbacks:
The selection flag (picture selected or rejected) is not synced.
The color label always appears as gray in Photolab.
Photolab does not sync all pictures (whatever is RAW or JPEG).
Photolab slows down and can even crash, so reading and editing XMP files with it does not seem to be a viable option.
Is there a way to natively export these metadata from Peakto to Photolab?
